Pensioner knocked down and injured

A pensioner received serious injuries following an accident on the Old Ballynahinch Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police in Lisburn are appealing for witnesses.

Inspector Alexander Johnston of Lisburn police said: “A Volkswagen Caddy van was travelling on the Old Ballynahinch Road just after 2pm when the vehicle left the road and struck a telegraph pole.

“A 65 year old pedestrian received serious injuries and is in hospital.”

Anyone who may have been in the area and can help the police with their enquiries is asked to ring 101.
