Pensioner remains in intensive care after being injured by a gate at Wallace Park

“I just don’t know how it happened.

“The man who took him home did so in good faith.

“I don’t think he knew just how badly injured he was.

“It was very good of him to take him home.

“There must have been a fault with the gate or something.

“My husband is lying in intensive care at the moment and all he was wanting to do was to get into the park.

“If that had been a young child or something we would have been looking at something a lot more serious.

“There is no doubt that the child would have been killed.

“I think people should be made aware of this.

“I just want my husband to get better.

“He is really not well and I just want him home and be better.

“He is a very fit man. I hope that he gets over this allright.

“I know that age is not on his side.”
