The song 'Carrickfergus' is often associated with the town and performed at special events locally despite some debate as to where it actually refers. Ballygrant? However, there is no disputing where esteemed poet Louis MacNeice was referring to as he reflected on his childhood in the 44 lines of his poem 'Carrickfergus'.
