The town has been blessed with beautiful churches and great schools as well as a neighbourly and kindly community. It is home to some of the country’s best sporting talent as well as being the birth place of talented musicians.
From the town’s much-missed fast food outlets, its key landmarks, to the annual May Fair festival, here are 10 things you may only understand if you come from Ballyclare.
9. That's a relief
The highly anticipated 'relief road' was opened in two phases, first in 2021 and then earlier this year. As the town expanded, traffic issues for commuters increased with congestion almost on a daily basis. However, the new road, named The Jubilee Road, has helped to alleviate the problem. 10. Ballyclare Market
Ballyclare was classed as a market town up until 2003 when the cattle market in the Park Street area closed. The venue was a hive of activity on market day as traders from across the province and further afield came to buy and sell their animals. The town's Asda supermarket is now standing on the site vacated by the market. Photo: Contributed
