Air Ambulance NI fundraising drive takes off for Christmas

On Christmas Day, the 12 Days of Christmas, and every other day of the year, the pilots, doctors, and paramedics of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland are on duty to respond to serious medical emergencies all over Northern Ireland.

At a time when charitable income from events has drastically declined, the local charity has launched a series of festive fundraising activities that allow the public to raise vital funds safely this Christmas season.

Kerry Anderson, Head of Fundraising at Air Ambulance NI, said: “We are very aware that behind every call out is a critically ill patient. The interventions that the medical team bring to scene can be the difference between life and death. Such a crucial service for everyone means that even in these challenging times, fundraising has to continue. We’d like to say a massive thank you to those who have supported already this year. Many of our new Christmas fundraising ideas have been inspired by supporters and will help raise the £5,500 needed daily to sustain operations. With everyone’s help we will together ensure the helicopter can lift off on Christmas day and every other day for those who may need it.”

Mark Spence has lit up his Maghaberry home for the festive season and is asking anyone who visits to see the display to make a small contribution to the Air Ambulance.

Supporters can send a message in memory or support and have this displayed on the charity’s website in return for a donation amount of your choice. Or check out the online shop for stocking fillers including pens, keyrings or baubles for your tree. As most work Christmas parties won’t be happening this year, Air Ambulance NI are also appealing to the public to donate what would have been spent on these celebrations.
