Located in the former Toys R Us building on Mill Road, the new Airtastic Newtownabbey is nearly 50,000 sq ft of leisure under one roof.

This includes an inflata park, amusement arcade, bowling alley, mini golf, soft play and restaurant.

Provided the reopening of leisure in Northern Ireland goes as planned, the date of opening Airtastic Newtownabbey is set for Thursday, May 27.

As the latest part of the 2.5-million-pound expansion to the Airtastic leisure offerings announced in November 2019 and creating 60 new jobs, Airtastic Newtownabbey will be one of the largest multi-activity leisure destinations in the whole of the UK and Ireland with entertainment activities for all ages.

The new centre will feature a 12-lane ten-pin bowling alley with the latest bowling technology, a space themed 18-hole mini golf course, a soft play centre for children under 4’7”, a massive inflata park with new and exciting activities not yet seen in Northern Ireland and an amusement arcade with play-to-win-prizes gaming machines and skill tests.

Visitors will also be able to eat and drink at the NY Kitchen, an American style diner which will serve food and drinks including burgers, pizzas, shakes, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.

Sharyn Ingrey, Area Manager for Airtastic Entertainment Centres said: “We are excited to open our new centre in Newtownabbey that will feature five amazing activities all under one roof.

“While we had some delays to the project because of Covid-19 we are delighted to get the project completed and we are sure everyone will agree it was worth the wait.

“It has been a long haul with a number of false starts but I think we can be optimistic that this time will be it and normality will follow shortly after. Although times have been challenging, we have worked away in the background on a number of fronts and we can’t wait to open the doors to all our Airtastic centres.

“We can’t wait to see our happy customers having lots of fun and we are sure they missed us just as much.”

Combined with the other four Airtastic centres located in Bangor, Belfast, Craigavon and Cork, Airtastic is now one of the largest leisure operators across the island of Ireland providing the best entertainment to a wide range of customers of all ages.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council granted planning permission for the facility in February 2020.
