Ballycastle man to play musical role in this year's Strictly Come Dancing
A Ballycastle man is set to play a musical role in this year’s new-look series of BBC1’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing.
Garth McConaghie is an associate music producer on the show, working as part of a team under the direction of the Senior Music Producer.

The series – with three new hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe – will feature various musical arrangements for the different dances with Garth contributing some pieces to the Senior Music Producer who looks after the majority of the musical arrangements.
A former pupil at Dalriada School in Ballymoney, Garth McConaghie has worked extensively as a composer, sound designer, musical director, arranger and music producer for studios, theatre, film and television.
Garth's work has been performed and broadcast all over the UK, Ireland and internationally as part of theatrical productions, exhibitions, art installations, television and radio.
His television credits include Derry Girls, Flight, My Mother and Other Strangers, Comic Relief, Days Like This and the promotional campaign for the BBC’s Titanic Sinks Tonight.
Garth subsequently wrote music for the BBC’s ‘Made of Here’ campaign which recreated the Titanic using drones – and it was this piece which attracted the attention of Strictly’s senior music producer.
His theatre credits include A Night in November, Mojo Mickybo, In the Name of the Son, A Christmas Carol, Rebus: Long Shadows, The Miami Showband Story and many more.
Strictly Come Dancing returns for its 24th series and will kick off its live shows on Saturday, September 26, with the annual pre-recorded launch episode expected to air on Saturday, September 19.
