The association was delighted to hand over two cheques totalling £700.00 for Marie Curie UK and Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI.

Representatives from both charities made the trip to Cairncastle to pick up the cheques from some of those involved in raising funds.

Siobhan Mulvenna, chair of Cairncastle Community Association, said: “Both Valerie and Claire from the charities were very grateful and shared how difficult the last year has been in raising much needed funds.

“These charities were the favourite of our recently deceased friend and fellow committee member, Alan Tweed RIP. The funds were raised by donations from the local community and a Christmas raffle.

“We wanted to remember him in a way fitting of him, a gentleman who was always giving to others.”

The community association went to thank all who donated prizes, bought tickets and made cash donations.
