Anne has only been playing golf for a few years now while husband Vincent has been playing for decades without celebrating a similar achievement.

“This made her success all the sweeter,” Vincent joked.

“I’ve never had a hole in one in the 40 years I’ve been playing, never close.

“This fantastic achievement was witnessed by myself, handicap 16 and Dr Geoff Todd, handicap 12.”

Meanwhile, golfers across Mid and East Antrim have been getting back into the swing of things since courses reopened to members on May 20.

Elected members and members of the golf clubs have been praising the quality playing surface which now awaits them, according to Mid and East Antrim Council.

Council stated: “With the current pandemic leaving golfers unable to practise their putting in over two months, many were delighted to return to the fairways.

“Last year Mid and East Antrim had an extraordinary year of golf with the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf being held in the borough.

“Despite this year’s prestigious event being cancelled, golfers have been getting back to the tee boxes in their droves and enjoying the borough’s excellent golf courses in tip top condition.”
