A number of parents have voiced concerns about the development on social media.

Speaking to the Times, Chairperson of Core New Mossley community group, Jackie Shaw, said: “Parents feel the green area is a safe space where their children can be watched.

“Children have been playing for over 30 years on that green area in the estate.

“We have discussed between the committee to move the small football nets facing them away from the houses. We will also hope to speak to all the residents in the surrounding houses.

“We would be hopeful that an all-weather pitch could be constructed somewhere in the estate for local children to play and exercise at.”
