Centenary funding available for Newtownabbey groups


This special funding is available as part of the council’s year-long programme to mark the Centenary of the creation of Northern Ireland - ‘Our Country’s Centenary for Our Community… Reflecting Back - Striving Forward.’
These commemorative events or projects must take place from April 1 to September 30 and include one or more of the following themes; reflection, celebration, commemoration and inspiration.

These could include art/photographic Eexhibitions/installations, planting schemes, historical talks and tours, street parties, tea dances, church services, film screenings or a community celebration event.
Commenting on the programme, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cllr Jim Montgomery said: “2021 is a significant year for Northern Ireland, an opportunity to reflect, celebrate and be inspired with all that has happened over the past 100 years.
“I hope the community and voluntary groups form the borough avail of this funding and I look forward to hopefully attending some of these events and projects later this year.”
Applications for funding are now open with a closing date of Friday, February 19 at 4pm.
