Coronavirus: Deep clean was conducted at Glengormley McDonald’s

McDonald’s has confirmed that a deep clean was conducted at its Glengormley branch after a member of staff tested positive with Covid-19 last month.

The fast food giant was responding after a concerned resident contacted this newspaper this week to highlight the case.

In a statement issued today (Wednesday), a McDonald’s spokesperson said: “One employee tested positive for Covid-19 from McDonald’s Glengormley restaurant in September.

“To date, no one else at the restaurant has been affected but as an additional precautionary measure on Sunday, September 20, the restaurant was deep cleaned by an external cleaning company and has since reopened.

“We have a number of safety measures in place to help keep our people safe, including perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a 2 metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.”
