Coronavirus: Glengormley Tesco staff self-isolating after testing positive

Tesco has confirmed a number of employees at its Northcott branch in Glengormley have tested positive with Covid-19.

In a statement issued to this newspaper today (Thursday), a spokesperson for the supermarket chain said: “A small number of colleagues at our Northcott store have tested positive for Covid-19 and are self-isolating.

“Their close contacts have been informed. The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are following all health authority guidance and taking the relevant precautions.

“We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular deep cleaning.”

The retailer is understood to operate a limit on the number of people in stores at any one time and has signage at entrances asking customers to wear face coverings, hand sanitisers for customers and staff to use and extra cleaning products for shoppers to wipe down their trolley or basket.
