Management at the Bellevue Arms took the decision after they were made aware of the positive diagnosis.

Posting on Facebook this afternoon (Monday), a spokesperson for the business said: “Unfortunately it has come to our attention that a family member of one of our staff has tested positive for Covid-19 in recent days.

“Whilst our staff member has tested negative and we have not been advised to close by the PHA, we feel we have a duty of care to both our staff and patrons to ensure the environment we are providing is as safe as possible.

“Therefore, we will regrettably be closing with immediate effect to allow a thorough deep clean of the premises to take place. This will be taking place this evening and we plan to re-open Tuesday, August 11 at 4pm. Any bookings throughout this closure period are now regrettably cancelled with immediate affect.

“Once again, this is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our staff and patrons and we have not been advised to close.”
