It recently launched a major fund raising programme to raise £180,000.

“The support we had on the night with 320 thronging the parish hall was incredible as folks attended from right across Northern Ireland, “ Alistair recalled.

“On top of the money raised that evening donations have flooded in. Equally heartening was the way family, friends, neighbours and the entire community got behind us in running a most enjoyable event.

“The sheer number of willing hands means they cannot all be named, but they are all good people, who did a great job in aid of a worthy charity.

“From my diagnosis to now has been an incredible journey with many highs and lows as we faced the reality of what really matters in life and the certainty of death. Now we can see that God, in his grace, has been good to us.”

Aside from that amazing donation going to Charis Cancer Care Lorraine says that the charity dance had another very important outcome.

“We were all again reminded that any changes in our body must be checked out quickly by a doctor.

“Being ‘too busy’ or perhaps, more truthfully, too worried to see a GP is no excuse. If in doubt do not delay.”
