Diabetes UK to launch Portadown Live Well Hub
Diabetes UK Northern Ireland is expanding its Live Well Hub network to Portadown.
It will be the eighth of its kind in Northern Ireland and offers the chance to hear from healthcare professionals and members of the Diabetes UK Northern Ireland team, as well as the opportunity to connect with other people living with diabetes.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the launch in Portadown Town Hall on April 28, with no need to sign up in advance.
Supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, the Live Well Hubs are part of a five-year project that aims to offer support and give advice to people living with, or at risk of, diabetes in the region.

Across Northern Ireland, almost 118,000 people are living with diabetes. A further 82,122 people in Northern Ireland have prediabetes and are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes during their lifetime.
Additionally, around 22,823 people live with diabetes within the Southern Trust area. In the Craigavon GP federation area, around 7,750 people live with diabetes and a further 5,551 people have prediabetes.
Heather Causer, Diabetes UK Northern Ireland Engaging Communities and Volunteer Manager said: “We are excited to see our Live Well Hubs expand to Portadown.
"With almost 118,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland, and many more at risk, it is essential that we continue growing our support network to meet the increasing needs of our communities.
"Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund, we're able to positively impact the lives of many by helping them reduce their risk or manage their condition well. The Portadown Hub will be an excellent resource for people from Portadown and the surrounding areas – we look forward to welcoming them at the launch on April 28.”
Upcoming dates at Portadown Town Hall include: Tuesday, April 28, 10am to 11am (official opening); Tuesday, May 5; Tuesday, May 12; Tuesday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 26 – all events running from 10am to 11am.
The Live Well Hubs are free to attend and are also available in Bangor, Belfast, Ballymena, Lisburn, Mid Ulster and Newry.
