Diamond celebration for James and Hester

James and Hester Doyle from Fernagh, attended the family event at their daughter Elaine’s house.

Mr and Mrs Doyle got married on June 4 1960 in Jennymount Methodist Church, Belfast. They held their reception in the Park Avenue Hotel and had their honeymoon in Dublin.

James was serving in the Army at the time of their wedding. His best man and groomsman were a sailor and a member of the Air Force.

They have three sons and a daughter, three grand daughters and two grandsons, with their first great grandchild due in November 2020.

During lockdown, they have been at home and unable to go out, but they managed through family phone calls to make sure they were okay. Their son, Norman, lives at home and has been getting the shopping in for them.

Speaking after the event, their son Trevor said: “They enjoyed the family gathering at Elaine’s house and were surprised by the buffet that was put on for them. Unfortunately the coronavirus meant we’d to cancel a larger celebration, but we hope to reschedule. All the family want to wish them a happy 60th anniversary and here’s to many more ahead.”
