Disruption to bin collections ‘likely to continue for next few days’

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has advised residents whose bins have been missed to continue leaving them out this week and they will be “collected as soon as possible.”

The advice was issued by the local authority last night (Monday) after icy conditions caused disruption to refuse collections across the borough.

A council spokesperson said: “As a result of the recent icy conditions there has been some disruption to the bin collection service and with a further weather warning in place, disruption is likely to continue for the next few days.

“If your bin has been missed, please continue to leave your bins out and crews will attempt to collect these as soon as possible. Thank you for your co-operation.”

Last month the council vowed to continue bin collections during the current period of Covid restrictions.
