Emergency services at Greenisland home’s clap for carers

Frontline workers at a Greenisland nursing home were applauded on Thursday evening for their hard work and commitment in caring for residents throughout the coronavirus outbreak.

The Knockagh Rise colleagues were joined by Carrickfergus PSNI and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service personnel, who were all applauded by residents, families of residents and elected representatives.

Michaela Chambers, activity co-ordinator who organised the ‘clap from your cars’ event at the Co Antrim location, said: “The support we have received tonight has been truly amazing.”

Also in attendance were Mid and East Antrim councillors Marc Collins, Pete Johnston and Bobby Hadden and David Hilditch MLA and Junior Minister Gordon Lyons MLA.

Michaela extended a special thanks to them “for their never ending support at Knockagh Rise in all that we do”.

Diane Brown, manager and Wendy Turkington, deputy manager, jointly said: “Thank you to our brilliant residents and their families, for the cheering, beeping and clapping and finally to the amazing team at Knockagh Rise for your hard work, dedication and sacrifices you have made in your own lives in order to keep our residents safe, you are all so appreciated.”
