Much to the delight of sons Logan (5) and Lucas (2), the couple came up with the fantastic idea of creating a pirate map for the boys to follow around the park in search of Pirate Pat’s lost treasure.

“My wife Lisa came up with the idea to entertain the boys,” explained Mark. “She had bought the treasure chest and wasn’t sure what to do with it.

“To prepare we had to sneak into the park the day before and find a hiding spot for the treasure, it was hard not to look suspicious digging a hole in the woods. We also prepared the letter and map the night before.

“The boys really enjoyed it, they even brought their nerf guns incase they needed to fend off any other pirates searching for the treasure, even the older boy and girl seemed to be secretly enjoying themselves too.

“The boys really like imaginative play, the day before they had been making toy swords and shields.

“We would definitely do something similar again. During the summer Logan, who received the letter, often goes to Murlough Beach in Newcastle with me when we stay at the caravan. We bring our metal detector and search for treasure on the beach, although this is our first treasure find.”
