Former Cookstown musician pens two hit songs during lockdown

James McGarrity, now living on the scenic and inspirational north coast at Ballycastle, is a well known music promoter and song writer.

Over the last two weeks alone he has had two Country No.1 songs in the UK and Ireland i-tunes charts with ‘How’s She Cutting Keep on Trucking’ by the 4x4s which include Ritchie Remo, Paul Kelly, Boxcar Brian and Joe Moore, and ‘An Irish Home’ by Gavin Gribben.

Countless well known stars which include Robert Mizzell, Patrick Feeney, Owen Mac and Keltic Storm to name but a few have recorded songs written by the County Tyrone native.

These have scored over 15 million on-line social media views and tens of thousands of downloads.

James said: “I have always liked writing songs and over the course of the last year with the pandemic and not being constantly on the road touring it has enabled me to develop the song writing further. I am delighted to have well known stars record my songs and over the next few months I look forward to hearing some more well known names record my tracks. It would be fantastic to see an International star record one of my original songs that definitely is my goal.

“There is no better feeling as a song writer than to see people singing the words of your song.”
