Funeral for Richard Scott who died in substation accident to be held on Sunday.

The popular Castledawson man who died in an accident at a substation in County Armagh, will be laid to rest in Magherafelt on Sunday.

NIE Networks employee Richard Scott from Shandon Park in the village died on Wednesday while working at Drumnakelly Main Substation in Portadown.

The 33-year-old was a popular IFA referee and had been due to preside at a pre-season game between Tobermore and Ballymoney on Saturday. The match has been cancelled as a mark of respect.

A funeral service will take place in his home at 2.30pm on Sunday, and family and friends are welcome to listen to the service outside whilst adhering to social distancing.

He will later be buried in Polepatrick Cemetery, Magherafelt.

Mr Scott was a son of June and Harold, brother of Cherith and Jordan, brother-in-law of David and Zara, and grandson of Elizabeth and a uncle of Tyler, Kai and Grayson.

The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation into circumstances of his death.
