The pandemic has forced many of us to reflect on our lives and on what the future may bring as we go into a new year.

Magherafelt man Hazlett Lynch, a victims’ campaigner, has been reflecting on the situation from a Christian perspective in his new book: ‘Your Refuge In Difficult Times, Mediations on Psalm 46.’

“Many people are still afraid of what Covid-19 will bring in 2021, especially with a second outbreak with the attendant restrictions, etc, and talk of a third outbreak. These facts make this book extremely relevant to the present hour,” he said.

Dr Lynch commenced a social media ministry when the pandemic first hit back in March of last year, “in an attempt to bring encouragement to God’s weary and fearful people, and also to present a strong and clear Gospel message to the unsaved.”

He continued: “The interesting thing is that much of the encouragement has come the other way – to me.

“Those from all over the British Isles and from the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Africa, south Asia countries such as Pakistan and north-east India, Bangladesh, and also from south India. A growing number of other countries have contributed to the encouragement this ministry has been to me.

“The fact that so many from all over the world have watched the broadcasts suggests that they, too, have been helped by my ministry. Comments made were most gratifying. Because this has resulted, I have decided to make these messages available to the Christian reading public, and my studies on Psalm 46 are the first to be fully transcribed. Others are in the pipeline for publication.”

These messages on Psalm 46 were delivered to a global audience via Facebook and You Tube in the autumn of 2020 at the time when the second wave of this outbreak started to be felt.

He continued: “Many are very frightened by the scare tactics of those in power as well as the extreme religious who, wittingly or unwittingly, are adding to this sense of fear and dis-ease. I wanted to show people that God is still in charge of this global situation and is using it for his own glorious purposes. He is calling on the nations of the earth to acknowledge their sin and wickedness, and to turn to Him.”

Dr Lynch added: “I trust that these studies will prove a blessing to you as your read them and meditate on their relevant message.”

In a foreward, Rev Dr Robert J. Greer said: “I know that you will not only enjoy reading this inspiring exposition of Psalm 46, but that you will also be encouraged in the faith as you read through these ‘down to earth words’ which Hazlett employs.

“I believe that these words will be as much an encouragement to you, as they have been and are to me, and that you will most certainly be able to identify with them as you travel life’s journey, and follow the Master. This book will help to strengthen and deepen your own personal walk with the Lord, of that I have no doubt.”
