Both Edgarstown Residents’ Association and C.R.E.A.T.E (a community group in the Corcrain and Redmanville areas) have linked up to support locals through the pandemic.

They delivered around 80 hot meals a week to the elderly and vulnerable as well as helping them out.

Sadly, they have decided that, as restrictions enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been lifted, they will be curtailing the service and their hot meal deliveries will be coming to an end.

And now they would like to thank all the volunteers and those who helped out with food and supplies.

Indeed one of the group, Jordon Russell, won a Community Hero Award.

A spokesperson for CREATE and Edgarstown Residents’ Association said; “Everyone will agree that the COVID-19 pandemic will probably have been the most serious threat to public health in our lifetimes.

“Edgarstown Residents’ Association and C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Group from Corcrain joined forces in an attempt to prepare and deliver 80 hot meals per week to local elderly and vulnerable residents.

To date we have delivered over 10,000 meals between the two estates and beyond. As government restrictions are slowly being lifted, we feel it is now time to bring our hot meal delivery service to a close as of June 4.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who has donated to our community response initiative. Special thanks go to Bobby Lappin (Roadhouse Kernan) for the use of his premises and endless supply of potatoes, Portadown Wellness Centre and their consortium of suppliers for their overwhelmig donations and our volunteer delivery drivers, all, without whom, this would not have been possible.”
