Runwood Homes revealed 10 Glenabbey Manor residents passed away after being diagnosed with the virus.

A further four residents from the Church Road facility passed away with suspected Covid-19.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Runwood Homes said: “Glenabbey Manor has sadly experienced the passing of five residents in the home who tested positive for Covid-19, five further residents passed away in hospital who tested positive for Covid-19, and a further four residents at the home and in hospital, who were treated as suspected Covid-19 bereavements.

“We wish to express our most sincere condolences to the family and friends affected.

“Our quality of care remains our highest priority and we remain very clear that all processes followed are in line with local and regional guidance and aim to best support our residents, and staff, safely.

“We would like thank all staff at Glenabbey Manor for their unwavering professionalism and continued reassuring care delivery at this time.”

The news comes in the wake of comments by Health Minister Robin Swann, who earlier this week said the ‘frontline’ in the fight against Covid-19 has now moved to care homes across the province, as the number of hospital admissions due to the virus drops.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health this afternoon revealed that 418 people have now died in Northern Ireland after testing positive for Covid-19.
