In 'distressing incident' a dog attacked and killed a cat in Lurgan Park in full view of members of the public

DUP Cllr Stephen Moutray, who is Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council, said he has contacted council staff who have removed the cat’s body.

“I have been made aware of a distressing incident that took place in Lurgan Park earlier today, where it is understood that a cat was attacked and killed by a dog.

"Following reports of the incident, I contacted ABC Council staff and have been informed that the cat's body has now been removed. Unfortunately, it appears that the dog involved was a stray and no owner was visible at the time.

"This is a highly unfortunate and upsetting incident, made all the more distressing by the fact that it occurred in full view of members of the public.

"I would encourage anyone who has information regarding the dog involved to report it to the relevant authorities.”
