The event provided an opportunity to recognise the dedication, commitment and contribution of the site’s workforce, which has been at the heart of the Cookstown operation and the local community for generations.
Employing around 750 people, Sofina Foods Cookstown is one of the area’s largest employers and is home to colleagues from 22 nationalities, speaking 19 different languages, all united by one shared purpose.
The Family Fun Day brought together employees and their loved ones for a day of activities, entertainment and celebration, recognising the hard work and achievements of teams across the business throughout the year.
Sofina Foods Cookstown is an integrated food manufacturing site with capabilities spanning primary processing, butchery, curing, smoking, fresh pork processing, retail packing, and the production of gammon, sausages, stuffing and other pork products.
These products are enjoyed by consumers across the UK and Ireland in the form of ham, gammon, pork loins and sausages.
While the scale of the operation is impressive, it is the people behind the business who make the site truly distinctive.
The Cookstown site brings together colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. Some employees are approaching 50 years of service, while several generations of the same families have worked at the site, passing on their knowledge, experience and pride from one generation to the next.
That contribution is recognised throughout the year through monthly recognition awards, wellbeing initiatives, charitable fundraising events and community activities, including Wear It Pink and Cash for Kids, helping to create a workplace where people feel valued and connected.
Joe Murphy, Site Director, Sofina Foods Cookstown said: "Our people are at the heart of everything we do. The Family Fun Day was a fantastic opportunity to thank our employees and their families for their continued hard work, commitment and support. We are incredibly proud of the diversity, experience and sense of community that exists across our Cookstown site, and of the role we continue to play within the local community.”
