The network has delivered almost 3,000 support packages to vulnerable people and families with over 400 households supported on a regular basis.

Gareth McConnell, who co-ordinated the network, said: ‘Given the change in restrictions, we have decided the time is right to stop the service. The network has brought together over 10 local organisations and 40 volunteers and has secured funding from Mid and East Antrim Council and Community Foundation for Northern Ireland. As well the funders there have been many kind donations. I would like to sincerely thank all those people who have supported us as well as our volunteers.”

As well as providing support, the network also organised a successful Stay at Home party for VE day and a Superheroes day for children and families.

Alongside Factory Community Forum, groups involved in the initiative were Boyne Square Bonfire Forum, Larne Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club, ACT Initiative, Clyde Valley FB, Constable Anderson Memorial FB, Constable Anderson Memorial Old Boys FB, Larne Northern Ireland Supporters Club, Port of Larne and Larne & District Great War Society.

Gareth added: “The response has demonstrated the best in community spirit both in our area and with other groups and organisations across the town. Hopefully this has provided the impetus for groups to continue to work together to support communities in the future. I would like to thank all the groups involved, particularly in our own network.”
