The figure was revealed as the charity received a donation of £300 from Asda for its outstanding contribution to the community throughout 2020.

Larne Foodbank has welcomed those in food poverty throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and supplied emergency food and cleaning products to over 1,000 people since the first lockdown started in March.

“Asda set up a drop off trolley point in store to allow customers to donate directly to the food bank whilst shopping and each week, without fail, we have received between 10 and 20 food boxes.

“None of this would be possible without the help and support of the staff and management at Asda Larne. Catherine McCallion, Community Champion, has been terrific in providing specific items that we have run out of.

“On behalf of the foodbank, I would like to extend my thanks to the staff and customers at Asda Larne. We are humbled by the tremendous support. There’s no doubt this donation will be put to good use over the festive period.”
