The scheme is a "new twist on what people usually expect during the season of Advent". The school said: "Instead of opening the boxes of Advent calendars to take out treats, we asked our pupils to donate one item, requested by the Larne Foodbank, to the Reverse Advent box in their registration rooms. This year we have been overwhelmed by the response.

"The Larne Foodbank do a tremendous job during the year to provide practical support to people in crisis. Our donations will be used to create the 230 hampers that the Foodbank plan to give to families and individuals in the Larne area over the Christmas period. Thank you to all pupils, parents and staff for your kind donations."
