Larne players highlight domestic violence support programme

The campaign trending across social media, encourages people to help raise awareness about domestic abuse by sharing a photograph of a heart on their palm.

Larne FC players Cillian Gilmore, Tomas Cosgrove, Ben Tilney and Pablo Andrade are supporting the campaign along with local Women’s Aid ABCLN Volunteer Tahnee McCrory.

Tahnee said: “Join us and share your photographs on social media using the hashtag #YouAreNotAlone to raise awareness of this issue, and let’s help everyone to stay safe.

“At home shouldn’t mean at risk for women and children. You have the right to be safe. You have options.

“Check in with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues and break down the isolation for anyone affected by domestic abuse.

Let them know you are there for them and that help is available.”

Women’s Aid is a national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children.

Detailing the work of the charity, a spokesperson for the charity said: “We have been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice for over 45 years.

“We empower survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, working with and for women and children by listening to them and responding to their needs.

“Women’s Aid is a lifesaving federation of frontline domestic abuse services, supporting women and children at the most challenging times of their lives. The power of us together, as a network of services united to support survivors of domestic abuse, is formidable. Together we help save lives every day.”
