Man dies after road smash on major NI road - PSNI appeal for dashcam footage - motorcyclist injured in June collision also dies from injuries

A man has died after a two-vehicle road traffic collision on a major NI road.

The collision happened on Station Road in Saintfield yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 8th July).

The collision was reported shortly before 3.45pm.

Emergency services were rushed to the scene as it was confirmed a man and a woman were injured.

The female driver of a Volkswagen Golf, and the male driver of a Hyundai i10 were both taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

A PSNI spokesman said the male driver passed away in hospital.

Inspector Robinson is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1184 of 08/07/20.

Last night the PSNI also confirmed the sad news that another man has died after a road traffic collision on June 22.

The collision happened in Newtownabbey.

In a statement the PSNI named the deceased as 29-year-old Alan McCullough.

Alan had been riding a motorcycle when he was involved in the one-vehicle collision on Church Road, which was reported just before 6.35am

He was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries following the collision, but passed away from his injuries on July 7.

Inspector David Burns is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 249 of 22/06/20.
