Mayor condemns Sunnylands antisocial behaviour

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim has condemned an incident of vandalism in Sunnylands as 'abhorrent'.

It comes as Sunnylands and Woodburn Community Development Group highlighted recurring antisocial behaviour at the MUGA pitch in the area.

"The nursery school would use this as well as kids in the area and if the antisocial behaviour/vandalism continues it will lead to this pitch being closed, which isn't fair on the people who use it," read a post from the group earlier this week.

Commenting on the incident, Mayor, Councillor Peter Johnston, said: “This is abhorrent behaviour and deprives Mid and East Antrim’s children from the use of safe equipment to play sports, especially as they begin their return to school.

"If anyone has any information on who is participating in this activity, please contact the PSNI on 101.”
