Modified e-bike seized after PSNI observe ‘dangerous’ incident in Portadown
Police have seized a modified e-bike which they saw being driven dangerously in Portadown town centre, including on the footpath.
Officers also highlighted the potential dangers of these bikes and urged parents to make sure they know what their children are riding.
"In response to concerns from local residents and motorists, local Neighbourhood and Roads Policing Teams have seized this modified e-bike,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
"Police observed it being driven dangerously in Portadown town centre on the road and footpath, causing a major hazard to pedestrians, licensed road users and themselves.”

Police issued a reminder of the dangers of modified bikes.
"If it can’t be pedalled, it’s not an e-bike – it’s a motor vehicle!
"That means a driving licence is required, insurance is required and a helmet is required.
"Parents – please check what your young ones are riding. Once modified, these bikes are illegal and can pose a very serious safety risk.”
