Moneymore grandad gets set for charity ride in aid of mental health

Last year the grandad quit smoking and celebrated his 60th birthday by undertaking a 225-mile cycle to raise money for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.
Next month he is aiming to do a fund raising cycle for STEPS - the mental health charity based in Draperstown.

He had been preparing to do the one-day cycle earlier this year.
“Unfortunately due to Covid-19 I had to postpone the event,” explained Danny.
“It was looking like I was going to have to wait until next year before being able to arrange an event.

He said the event takes place a few days after World Suicide Prevention Day (Thursday, September 10).
“It wasn’t possible to have the event that day but on Saturday, September 12, I will be attempting to cycle from dawn (6.30am) to dusk (8pm) to raise money for STEPS” he continued.
“Due to Covid-19 regulations I will be using a local 25 mile circuit Draperstown, Tobermore, Magherafelt, Moneymore and back to Draperstown and repeating this route throughout the day.“
