Moustache effort by Mallaghan employees raises cash for charities

Employees from a Tyrone engineering company have raised an impressive £4,434 for two charities from growing a moustache last month.

The 25 workers from Dungannon-based Mallaghan will donate the money evenly between Cancer Focus NI and leading men's mental health charity Movember.

The money will assist in providing vital research and support to men’s physical and mental health projects.

Niall Mallaghan, director at Mallaghan, said: “I am thrilled that our first Mallaghan Movember was a huge success, going a long way to supporting critical research and charity initiatives for men’s mental health and cancer.

“A big thank you must go to the 25 Mallaghan employees who took part and everyone that donated such a generous amount to these two worthy charities.

“Supporting our colleagues is always our priority and we are passionate about raising awareness for issues directly affecting the team, their families and our local communities.”

Speaking of his Movember challenge, Mark Williamson, member of Mallaghan sales team, said: “We are very grateful to the generosity shown by everyone who donated to our fundraiser, raising crucial donations and awareness of Movember and Cancer Focus NI initiatives.

“Movember addresses critical issues relating to men’s health by collaborating with global experts, making a powerful impact to support issues facing men regarding mental health and suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer.

Mallaghan products include airport buses, de-icers, passenger stairs and maintenance platform lifts and are used by the likes of British Airways, Delta, Emirates, Etihad, Menzies Aviation and Qatar Airways.
