It is part of a council initiative to support the sector since new pandemic restrictions were announced almost two weeks ago.

The Mayor, Councillor Peter Johnston, said: “We are calling on the local community to consider buying from local outlets when making purchasing decisions, especially in regards to hospitality sector.

“As we stay closer to home, a community-wide effort is needed to give our town centre and hospitality sector the boost they need to get through the winter.

“If you are looking for a takeaway or delivery then please remember to shop local and enjoy what’s on your doorstep.

“A small spend from each of us can have a giant impact on local businesses helping them survive the current pandemic and thrive into the future.”

With the situation remaining fluid, council says it will endeavour to keep the list as up to date as possible depending on each individual business and the changing circumstances. The directory can be viewed at www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk/shopsafesupportlocal
