New family indoor adventure play and learning centre opened six months ago in Magherafelt

Hunters Quest is a jungle-themed indoor adventure play space, soft play, and family café that has recently opened at Rainey Street in Magherafelt.

Owned and run by Michaela Hunter, a teacher who taught for 10 years in Rainey Endowed, Hunters Quest she says the business started from the prospective as a mum of little ones, not from this area, and without that supportive ‘village’ close by.

Michaela said: “Postpartum is hard enough, let alone doing it without your family living nearby.”

She also found that there was nothing like Hunters Quest for the littlest ones in Magherafelt, and while there are incredible places in neighbouring towns, “it would have been lovely on those super dark early mornings….after an interrupted night’s sleep”, to have something on your doorstep that you could walk to, and so Hunters Quest was born!

There is an indoor play area for children with two full floors of fun, a full floor of soft play and then a full floor of an imaginative roleplay village.

There is also a cafe serving a full range of hot and cold drinks, a snack menu ranging from scones to sausage rolls and a full hot food menu, if you fancy lunch or dinner, or just something more substantial and the best part of al...it’s served right to your table while the kids play!

Hunters Quest has hosted several mum centred events/workshops in the short six months it has been opened, including the mums hot coffee club which was a brilliant way for postpartum mums to get out and meet other like minded mums going through the same stuff.

Whilst also running SEN sessions and hosting birthday parties and events, keeping them busy, Michaela also credits her husband Paul.

"It wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of my husband who takes cares of the tech side of things and, of course, our own two little explorers Ralph and Georgia,” she said.

Michaela is originally from Derry City and Paul is from Holywood.

The couple have lived in Belfast but got married and settled in Magherafelt and have “fallen in love with the town”.

Hunters Quest is open: Tuesdays: 9.15-11.15; Wednesdays: 9.15-11.15; Thursdays: 9.15-11.15 and 5.15pm-7.15pm; Fridays: 9.15am-7.15pm; Saturdays: 9.15-4pm; Sundays: 9.15-2.15pm.
