Newtownabbey Rotarians raising funds for NI Children’s Hospice

The generous effort, which aims to collect £10,000, will support the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice to purchase new specialist equipment to safely care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

Each year, this charity provides respite, symptom management and end of life care to more than 370 children, both in the family home and at Horizon House in Newtownabbey (the only children’s hospice in the province).

Catherine O’Hara, Partnerships Manager for the Northern Ireland Hospice praised the Rotary Club, saying: “Horizon House, our Children’s Hospice is located in Newtownabbey and we’ve been lucky enough to have been supported by the local Rotary Club for many years now.

“The money raised by Newtownabbey Rotary Club through GlobalGiving will be used to buy new mobility and specialist bedding equipment for the babies, children, and young people from across the province who need the care and support of the Children’s Hospice.

“The pandemic has severely limited the traditional ways that members of the Rotary Club can raise money for charity, but they have been determined to do their bit to support us this year.

“It is brilliant to see just how enthusiastically members have adapted to digital fundraising. Their willingness to try something fresh and exciting, like GlobalGiving, speaks volumes of Newtownabbey Rotary Club’s generous spirit and their commitment to the Children’s Hospice.
