St. Malachy’s College, Belfast paid tribute to Daniel describing him as “modest, humble and very popular” young man.

“Daniel was a modest and humble Malachian who was very popular with both his teachers and peers,” read a statement issued by St. Malachy’s College.

“He deserved much praise for the way in which he went about his life in the College. Yet, he never sought out praise,” the school added.

Another parent said: “God rest this beautiful boy - my daughter was so lucky to have you as a friend, Daniel.

“You will be in her heart and she will miss you forever,” added the mother.
