Pride and Prejudice and 80 Hits! star Sasha Barrett-Ferris looks forward to album release
A young Dundonald singer and musician responsible for breathing new life into some of the Eighties’ most iconic songs in Belfast’s newest smash hit musical is set to release her first collection of original songs this October.
Sasha Barrett-Ferris has been wowing Pride and Prejudice and 80 Hits! audiences at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall with her sensational reimagining of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, Billy Idol’s White Wedding and A-ha’s Take On Me - possibly the most beloved 80s hit of them all.
As well as performing the live music, Sasha plays the show’s ‘Mary Bennet’.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter composed her first song on a ukulele, aged just 16. Bitten by the songwriting bug, Sasha bought her first guitar at 17 and promptly proceeded to write dozens more. She writes, records and produces all her own songs in her at-home-studio aka a campervan affectionally called ‘Fleur.’
Sasha describes her “personal yet universal” songs as “taking a deep dive into her thoughts, the human condition, nostalgia, yearning, fear and love” and hopes to provide “an artist’s remedy” to all who listen. Her album, No Sight Of An End, is set for release this October across all streaming platforms.
When Sasha’s not writing, recording and singing her own music or performing she also finds time to work as an outdoor activity instructor.
She is looking forward to returning to the Waterfront Hall with Pride and Prejudice and 80’s Hits! in November following the show’s recent sold-out run. A fresh and joyful reimagining of the Jane Austen beloved classic, the show has quickly established itself as one of Northern Ireland’s newest musical theatre success stories.
