£2k support for vital work of Carrickfergus Foodbank

Flavour Warehouse Ltd recently donated £2000 to Carrickfergus Foodbank to help fund Covid-19 relief efforts.

The foodbank relies on donations, both food and monetary, to provide its vital service.

Alex Moore, Carrickfergus volunteer, said: “This money will go towards needs that arise in the foodbank over the months ahead due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic both socially and economically.

“The money will be able to contribute towards areas such as warehouse and office equipment and resources along with purchasing of food and toiletries when needed.

“We are very grateful for this donation and appreciate the generosity and thoughtfulness of Flavour Warehouse in supporting the continued work of Carrickfergus Foodbank.”

The foodbank is part of a nationwide network supported by the Trussell Trust working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Phil Boyle, managing director at Flavour Warehouse Ltd, said: “We’re very happy to be able to help the local community here in Carrickfergus. The team heard of their incredible work and we wanted to help in any way possible.

Around 5.5 tonnes of food has been distributed over the lockdown period in comparison to the same time last year when 1.4 tonne was distributed.
