Santa brings festive cheer to Rathcoole

Rathcoole residents recived a lift last week when Santa toured the estate to bring festive cheer at the end of what has been a tough year for many.

Father Christmas travelled round the region over December 14, 15 and 16 to provide sweets to local children.

The festive tour was organised by members of the RATH community group.

A spokesperson for the group said: “This was a non funded event in which we handed out over 500 sweets to kids all through the generosity of the community by shops and people giving donations.

“We adhered to social distancing and wore PPE at all times. Each of our volunteers gave up their own time to go out each night in turns to cover as much of Rathcoole estate as we possibly could.

“Thanks to everyone who supported the event. It would not have been possible without their generosity. Happy Christmas to the residents of Rathcoole.”
