In order to nominate and be selected as a finalist for the Specsavers Award of Excellence, a team member from the store had to complete a lengthy application form detailing why they believed their store was worthy of an award.

The staff member, who entered the Lisburn store into the award category, was Specsavers store manager Stephen Port. Stephen commented: “There aren’t many people who can say they love getting up to come to work every day, but I know that every member of staff within our store feels that way. The team is like a big family, who support you through the ups and downs of everyday life. We also have our fantastic customers to thank for making Specsavers, Lisburn such an enjoyable place to work.

“Our team here in Lisburn has, in 2012, proved to be strong in team ethics, performance and professionalism. We have been involved in fundraising initiatives for a number of charities across Northern Ireland and I feel that we deserve the recognition for all the hard work and effort that every member of staff has invested in all our the store activities. In addition, we are the only team in Northern Ireland to have been shortlisted, which really is an excellent achievement.”

Store director, Natalie Latham is also thrilled with the nomination. She added: “It is an absolute honour to be selected as a finalist in this category as it is a testament to the hard work and passion that is displayed by our team. We are proud to be part of the Specsavers brand; we are passionate about our customers and, as a store, have a commitment both to staff members and to the local community.
