Thousands greet King William on his return to Carrickfergus

Thousands of people gathered in Carrickfergus on Saturday for the Royal Landing celebrations.

King William’s arrival at the harbour was the highlight of a four-day long programme of events in the town, which included parades, historical displays, music and dance.

Carrickfergus Historical Re-enactment Group, which organised the pageant, said: “Big thank you to everyone who attended our festival over the last four days.

“Another successful pageant day and the weather behaved for us. Crowds around the town were great.”

The Royal Landing marked the 329th anniversary of King William’s arrival in the town on his way to the Battle of the Boyne.
