Tidal surge at Downhill Beach entrance
The shocking video above, kindly supplied by Downhill Beachhouse, shows waves surging right up to the road at Downhill Beach in County Londonderry.
The video shows the sea carry what appears to be a section of footbridge as if it were nothing more than a piece of flotsam.
The Met Office has issued a warning for high winds, wintry showers and storm waves to batter the coast over the next 24 to 48 hours as what has been dubbed ‘a weather bomb’ approaches the UK.
