'Urgent' appeal for food hamper items

Donations are urgently needed towards food hampers for the elderly and vulnerable in the east Antrim area.

John Stewart MLA made the appeal on Facebook yesterday as stocks of food items begin to run low following an ongoing donation drive at Carrickfergus Cricket Club.

"We are really in need of more food donations for the food hampers that we are delivering to elderly and vulnerable people across East Antrim," the local Assemblyman said.

"We are short of pasta/sauce, beans/tinned good, sweet treats and household items but to be honest will take anything at all. There are currently over 200 more requests for hampers but we are quickly running out if items.

"If you can donate anything at all please leave it to Carrick Cricket Club or you can leave it on your door step and we can collect it - just PM [private message] me your details."
