Walk in memory of RBL chairman Alan Hamilton raises hundreds for Poppy Appeal

A sponsored walk in memory of the late chairman of Carrickfergus Royal British Legion has raised hundreds for the Poppy Appeal.

It is the fourth time the event took place in memory of Alan Hamilton senior, who passed away in 2016.

Mr Hamilton was chairman of the Carrick branch of the charity for 10 years.

The event on Sunday, November 1 was organised by his daughter, Elaine Parker.

Family and friends of the late chairman were joined by members of Carrickfergus RBL, alongside Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston.

Due to restrictions around Covid-19, numbers were limited; however, the dedicated walkers still managed to raise £500 for the charity.

A cheque was presented to Edward McKnight from the Carrick branch at the cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.
