The 30ft structure, erected in Corcrain as a tribute to health care workers and all key workers, was built from pallets collected for July’s bonfire.

As the bonfire was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the Loyalist Corcraine Redmanville Bonfire group decided they would build a tribute to health staff instead.

A spokesperson for the group said: “When things don’t go your way, when things happen you can’t control you start again and rebuild. The fantastic resilience from the young people to push to make this possible is second to none.

“Thank you NHS and all key workers.”

Not only did the group of young people rebuild the NHS structure, but they have illuminated blue in tribute to the health care workers.

A message from the Editor:

The last 'Clap for Carers' was marked in Portadown, County Armagh, this evening when local community workers downed tools to applaud the emergency and frontline services. Volunteers from the area had erected a structure of pallets on the local Green at Corcrain spelling out the letters NHS but the recent storm and accompanying gale force winds had blown the lettering down and locals have been taking advantage of the good weather to rebuild their NHS tribute. The last 'Clap for Carers' was marked in Portadown, County Armagh, this evening when local community workers downed tools to applaud the emergency and frontline services.
