Wellness centre set for major expansion

The centre has secured additional land on the Armagh Road, beside Lidl and is in the process of developing a new Therapeutic Centre and a new teaching Empower Gardening & Educational Centre

Alan McDowell, founder of Portadown Wellness Centre stated: “We have erected a new 80 feet x 30 feet luxury modular building that will accommodate a new Teaching Kitchen for classes in cookery and baking, a new Arts and Crafts studio, a Sewing and Fashion studio and a new Yoga Suite.

“The building also has ladies and gents toilets and disabled bathroom facilities.

“Our new Therapeutic Centre will be ready for therapeutic, practical classes once the lockdown eases.”

It is hoped to commence classes early February.

Also planned for later in the Spring is the launch of a Brainstate TMS Clinic.

A spokesman said: “Administered by highly trained professionals Transcranial Magnetic Therapy (TMS) involves applying a series of magnetic pulses to the head to stimulate brain cells in the regions controlling mood.

“It has been demonstrated that this significantly improves symptoms of depression for 49% of people and for 32% it alleviates the symptoms entirely.”

It was described as a painless non-invasive outpatient treatment, with no major side effects The treatment can be used with or without antidepressants

This is normally considered when other approaches have failed to alleviate symptoms or by people who do not wish to take medication.
